Formerly considered a specialized vehicle, the hybrid snowmobile has become, over the last few years, one of the most widespread vehicles in the industry. There are two reasons for this change. First, suspension and chassis designs have made off-trail riding easier and eliminated the disadvantages of longer tracks (originally designed to float on deep snow) in turns. Secondly, more and more snowmobilers are craving the adventure and thrill of off-trail exploration and wilderness riding. The versatility and freedom of hybrid snowmobiles, especially the renowned Ski-Doo Renegade models, make them one of the most important segments in the industry.

And while versatility remains their main attribute, consumers are looking for more specialized hybrid models – with a mix of trail and off-road features – that better suit their riding style. BRP meets their needs by offering three types of Ski-Doo Renegade snowmobiles:

  • The trail-oriented Renegade models are similar to the MXZ models, with a longer track for the occasional off-trail ride, for added traction and to smooth out the ride over bumps.
  • The Renegade Enduro has an adventurous spirit, with a wide range of technologies and settings that make performance trail rides as satisfying as off-road excursions.
  • For snowmobilers who spend as much time having fun on the backcountry as they do slaloming through the powder, Ski-Doo offers the Renegade Backcountry

For 2018, BRP is offering even more Renegade models with the REV Gen4 platform and Rotax 850 E-TEC engine. This new, award-winning combination allows snowmobilers to ride the way they want to – a primary feature to satisfy all riding styles, on all types of terrain. And the remarkable drivetrain dynamics provide more control and precision to overcome bumps and obstacles.

The Renegade X-RS joins the Renegade X and Adrenaline packages with the REV Gen4/850 E-TEC combination. Like a motocross bike, the REV Gen4’s narrow, compact chassis is ideal for taming the bumps on busy, winding trails, and turns are made with surgical precision.

Overview

The increased traction of its longer track and the incredible suspension efficiency of its race-engineered KYB Pro shocks have helped the Renegade X-RS convert a large number of passionate enthusiasts. For 2018, it gets even more powerful and precise by migrating to the REV Gen4 platform. Its narrow, compact design allows the driver to move freely on the vehicle. Extreme leaning positions and stand-up driving become completely natural. The new reinforced running boards are wider and flatter and provide excellent footing when standing and landing.

The RAS 3’s design with its race-like dual-pivot steering system makes the front end the most precise ever offered by Ski-Doo. The new KYB Pro 36 shocks are more powerful and offer a higher level of adjustment.

Not to mention that the Rotax 850 E-TEC engine is the most powerful 2-stroke engine on the market. It maximizes the pleasure of driving with instantaneous responses that allow you to lift the skis whenever you want.

Sophisticated yet rugged, this new Renegade X-RS comes in a hyper-metallic silver color with mante green accents. A factory-prepared three-tone black version is also available, as well as the Quick Adjust system with preload adjustment knob on the running boards, and Pilot TS skis. The vehicle comes standard with a 1.25-inch RipSaw track, with two additional track choices: 1.5-inch RipSaw and 1.6-inch Ice Cobra.

Overview

The 2018 Renegade X model sets the standard for precision and capability in its class when the trails get rougher, especially with its rMotion rear suspension and premium shock package. These spring-only snowmobiles also come equipped with racing features like brake pads, handguards and taller lift blocks. You can also opt for the Adjustment Package, which includes adjustable Pilot TS skis and the Quick Adjust system that gives you an easy-to-reach spring preload adjustment knob on the running boards.

2018 Ski-Doo Renegade Enduro

Overview

The Renegade Enduro is the essence of the hybrid snowmobile – on a whole new level. Its 348 cm (137″) long track is perfect for overcoming bumps on epic trail rides and opening up off-road trails, and its REV-XS chassis provides a precise yet comfortable ride. But BRP ups the ante with an exclusive set of features to fine-tune control and comfort: adjustable Air Ride rear suspension without stopping the vehicle, adjustable Pilot TS skis, Ice Ripper XT track with studs and a heated seat. And to go along with these features, BRP offers a choice of four industry-leading Rotax engines: the 800R E-TEC, 600 H.O. E-TEC, 1200 4-TEC with iTC and 900 ACE with iTC. Overview

After its major transformation in 2017 with the REV Gen4 platform and Rotax 850 E-TEC engine, the Renegade Adrenaline doesn’t change much in 2018. The narrow shape and mass centralization of the REV Gen4 chassis provides plenty of room for different driving styles, and gives the vehicle the ability to respond more quickly to every driver command. And with its 850 E-TEC engine, the most powerful 2-stroke engine in the snowmobile industry, it speeds across lakes and through trees. A larger windshield increases protection for 2018.

Overview

The versatility of the Renegade models makes the Renegade Sport very attractive because of its excellent value. It can be used for trail riding, deep snow fun and even as a long distance snowmobile with the addition of the optional LinQ 1+1 seat. It’s a very affordable hybrid, especially with the Rotax 600 Carb engine, and a great family snowmobile with the 600 ACE and features like the learning key and riding modes.

CHOICE OF ROTAX ENGINES

600 ACE Engine: The most fuel-efficient engine in the industry with a fuel consumption of 8 L/100 km. For 2018, BRP didn’t just move the Renegade Backcountry models to the REV Gen4 platform, we completely redesigned the snowmobiles in this growing segment. Our goal was to create the premium hybrid snowmobile that combines precise yet dynamic trail handling with effortless off-trail riding, all in a high-quality vehicle.

Most of these features are found at the heart of the REV Gen4 platform. Its narrow cockpit allows the operator to move freely, to lean easily into turns and to move easily from side to side while slaloming through trees. He can sit and stand in a very natural way. In addition, the narrow shape interacts ideally with the snow for easy turning and slalom. The centralization of mass and the rigidity of the frame allow the snowmobile to respond instantly and easily to the rider’s commands, whether on trails or in deep snow.

And to give it even more, Ski-Doo engineers designed two new suspensions. Up front, the RAS 3 provides superior performance, with a slightly narrower width than trail sleds to make it easier to lean into powder. In the rear, the new 371 cm (146″) cMotion suspension, as the name suggests, offers a cross between trail and mountain tMotion.
