Together, the throttle carburetor and modified air cleaner housing improve engine starting and off-idle response under all conditions. This system is easily adjusted to stabilize idle speed, improve fuel efficiency and reduce harmful emissions.
The steering is arranged to allow for multiple seating positions to ensure comfort for riders of various sizes. The handlebar lift flange, with a competitive look, enhances the look and feel, while matching the overall ergonomics of the machine.
The throttle override system adds to the package to ensure that the engine speed returns to idle as soon as something interferes with the proper operation of the carburetor throttle cable.
PERFORMANCE
Yamaha has ensured that there is plenty of power in the Snoscoot to power the lighting system to meet legal requirements for trail lighting, heated grips and some optional accessories, such as the handy electric starter.
The Snoscoot takes advantage of a direct-drive continuously variable transmission (CVT), with advantageous gear ratios provided by a durable rubber belt and pulley CVT.
The Snoscoot is equipped with a lightweight Hayes hydraulic disc brake, which facilitates braking of the track.
The 200cc engine is equipped with an electronic governor that ensures that the engine speed never exceeds its maximum rpm, thus promoting long engine life and ensuring safe, controlled speed operation of the snowmobile. The governor is also tamper-proof, which reduces the chances of a zealous engineering apprentice trying to bypass the system.
A fully transistorized electronic ignition helps ensure reliable starts and hours of fun without having to be a mechanic to perform annoying maintenance.
MANIABILITY
Up front, the dual-wishbone suspension provides 4.5 inches of travel, which, combined with the 30.5-inch ski track, gives the Snoscoot a reassuringly stable and fun ride.
An adjustable preload torsion spring combines with the hydraulic amorto to handle the duties of the sliding beam rear suspension, which offers up to 11.4 cm (4.5 in) of vertical travel.
Yamaha’s lightweight plastic skis were designed specifically for the Snoscoot, perfectly matching the size and weight of its small frame. They hold the course with skill, and precisely dose the lift required to frolic in the crazy snow.
The spindles and delta arms have been designed with a special geometry to ensure that the effort required at the handlebars is low and the steering is precise.
CONFORT
The 55/65 watt headlight illuminates the path to ensure that the Snoscoot rider can be seen easily and has a clear view of his surroundings. This headlight meets international specifications for public trail use.
Any parent knows that a child’s icy hands cut short their day of fun in the snow. Well, the Snoscoot’s standard heated grips help extend the ride for hours.
These essentials help prevent damage to the frame; they also help move the snowmobile by pulling it either from the front or the back.
