Living large is part of the Freeride lifestyle. Freeriders scour the landscape for powder fields and steep slopes, continually searching for “that feeling” they embody so well. They also do things big, because it’s the only way to live larger than life. They are programmed to push the limits, challenge themselves and always do it again and again. With its equally bold attitude, the Ski-Doo Freeride 2022 is the perfect choice for these challenge enthusiasts.

To satisfy this snowmobiler, the Freeride must provide unparalleled power – in all situations, and that’s exactly what the legendary Rotax 850 E-TEC provides, not to mention the Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo, which gives even more power to high-altitude enthusiasts. The Turbo version delivers the full 165 horsepower of the Rotax 850 E-TEC up to 8,000 feet and, at higher altitudes, continues to provide a whopping 40 more horsepower than any naturally-aspirated 850 E-TEC engine – with zero lag acceleration and about half the weight penalty of aftermarket turbo packages. Both engines deliver instant response, class-leading power and durability that allow snowmobilers to push their limits with confidence.

Freeride models are built on the rugged and dynamic REV Gen4 platform that allows for centralized engine placement, with an open cockpit to allow the rider to move freely. The short tunnel design also allows the snowmobile to move freely to increase maneuverability and reduce power loss caused by snow at the rear. Big bumps are absorbed by the popular KYB Pro shocks designed to push the limits, with fine-tuned compression adjustment to suit any situation.

Some features have also been reduced in weight, such as lightweight shock springs, a compact weatherproof seat, wide-opening running boards that better shed snow and a one-piece hood.

And with other rider-centric features like smaller diameter handlebars, a new 4.5-inch backlit digital display and Ski-Doo’s exclusive SHOT battery-less starting system, the Freeride 2022 provides extreme snowmobilers with an unsurpassed riding experience on the snow.

PLATEFORM

REV Gen4 Platform: With the open design of the REV Gen4 off-road platform, snowmobilers have the freedom to ride in their own style. They can attack the terrain in their own way, without being limited by the demands of the snowmobile. Mass centralization gives mountain snowmobiles supreme agility and response. It provides a vehicle that responds perfectly to the driver’s commands, making it easier to maneuver on the mountain side and on the most technical terrain.

SUSPENSION

tMotion Rear Suspension: The tMotion is extremely agile and responds instantly to the rider’s commands. A simple weight shift is all it takes to steer the snowmobile in the right direction. A ball-and-socket rear arm and split front arm allow the suspension to flex laterally to help lean the sled into the mountainside or slalom. The progressive damping ratio enhances the ability to negotiate jumps and comfort on trails leading to the mountain. The optional adjustable limiter strap allows the snowmobiler to quickly and easily choose the riding dynamics.

Rear Suspension Rail Reinforcement: Reinforcement that provides extra strength during hard landings.  KYB Pro 40 EA Piggyback Rear Shock Absorbers: Shock absorbers with a high capacity and high exceptional durability for better control in the toughest conditions. A simple knob allows you to adjust the compression speed without tools.

RAS 3 Front Suspension: Industry-leading unequal-length A-arm front suspension provides precise, predictable handling with superior absorption over bumps and in the toughest conditions.

KYB Pro 36 R EA Piggyback Front Shocks: Exceptional capacity and durability for better control in the toughest conditions. The new, more efficient design provides high performance, and the optimized compression and rebound adjustment ranges are set with easy-to-use knobs.

Quick Sway Bar Disengagement: Engage and disengage the sway bar in seconds, without tools. Keep it in place on the trail and disengage it in powder.

KEY FEATURES

Narrower Ski Gap: The skis have a 35.7″ (90.7 cm) spread to make the front as easy to tilt as the back. In addition, the gap can be increased by 1.7″ (4.3 cm) on all versions to increase stability for different riding styles and conditions.

Tunnel Design: The beveled shape allows for a narrower tank and seat width for easier driver movement. The open rear flap design eliminates friction in deep snow. The heat exchanger is integrated into the tunnel using a friction stir welding process that improves heat transfer, increases strength and reduces weight.

Short Tunnel: Shorter tunnel for optimal maneuverability in deep snow. Ultralight snow guard with LinQ attachment points as standard.

pDrive Drive Pulley with Adjustment Pawl: Completely redesigned clutch with fast, frictionless dual rollers to transfer engine torque instead of traditional knobs. Large rollers with needle bearings, wide seat centrifugal mass and dual-axis design provide a smoother ride and longer life. Ratchet ramps allow for easy adjustment to achieve optimum rpm. Very light and maintenance-free, the clutch provides extremely fast shifting and remarkably consistent rpm. The fixed flange is finned to circulate more air – combined with the new belt guard to improve airflow and cooling.

Drive Belt: New 100% PBO design improves durability in deep snow.

QRS Vent Plus Trailing Pulley: Fixed and movable vane pulleys maximize HVAC airflow to reduce operating temperature and ensure consistent performance.

Drive Belt Monitoring System: Alerts the operator to belt problems in two ways to prevent failure: duty cycle and temperature. It allows the snowmobiler to take action to prevent belt failure.

Brembo Disc Brake: Hydraulic brake created by the world leader in the industry, featuring exclusive race-style X-brake pads for powerful, long-lasting stopping power. Stainless steel braided brake line.

Ergo-Step Side Panels: More comfort thanks to the ergonomic shape of the rear section of the panels, designed to support the driver’s legs on descents. The narrow profile and shape of the underside reduce the contact of the panels with the snow when driving on a mountainside. The shape of the bottom panel is designed to increase flotation in deep snow and on the side of the mountain.

Open toes: freedom of choice. Allows the driver to pivot the outside foot naturally in tight turns. Accessories are available to customize the toehold to suit your driving style.

Compact and lightweight seat: Lower, shorter, narrower and lighter design to facilitate the rider’s movements on the snowmobile. Designed with off-road expert Carl Kuster.  More weather resistant to maintain its lightweight characteristics.

4.5″ Digital Display: Fully digital LCD instrument panel with adjustable, flatter display for easy viewing while standing.

Mountain handlebar controls: Even more compact so as not to interfere with the driver’s movements. Heated thumb switches and heated grips on the console.

RER reverse control even better protected.

Smaller diameter handlebars and grips: Tapered handlebar ends improve operator comfort. Lightweight one-piece hood: One-piece polypropylene construction reduces weight by 2.7 kg (6.2 lbs). Optimized for heat management and noise reduction.

Rotax Electronic Reverse (RER): A system that weighs almost nothing as a simple button reverses the direction of the engine.

DESS RF Key: Standard anti-theft protection with a radio frequency microchip embedded in the key. Its ball-and-socket design ensures a solid connection in all conditions.

Sea Level Calibration: Many riders who snowmobile at lower elevations choose the Freeride model for use in deep snow or on lower slopes. To accommodate this need, BRP offers two drivetrain calibrations: a high altitude calibration for altitudes above 4,000 feet, and a sea level calibration for altitudes below 4,000 feet.

Accessory Ready: The vehicle has been factory prepared for easy installation of over 150 Ski-Doo accessories designed for the REV Gen4 platform: LinQ system, skid plates, vented side panel kit, LED auxiliary light, GPS receiver, 1+1 seat, windshield choices, and more.

ROTAX  ENGINES

Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo Engine: The industry’s first factory-built turbocharged two-stroke engine. The Rotax designed and built turbocharger allows the industry’s most powerful 850 twin-cylinder engine to develop 165 horsepower at altitudes of up to 8,000 feet, and maintain a remarkably consistent power output. The sophisticated design is fully integrated into the REV Gen4 platform to ensure ideal balance and minimal weight. This factory-built, turbocharged two-stroke boasts impressive power, instant, lag-free response and superior reliability – an engine that only the industry leader could design and bring to market.
