The 2022 Yamaha SXVENOM is a lightweight snowmobile designed for young enthusiasts, learner riders and snowmobilers who are getting back into the sport. An electric-starting, fuel-injected 397cc, two-stroke single-cylinder engine teams up with Camso’s 121-inch Hacksaw track to propel this sweet viper. Together, the dual-amorto rear suspension, lightweight alloy chassis, single-keel Stryke skis and sleek lines combine to make this Venom’s bite a pleasant one without inflicting a painful sting on the wallet
2022 Yamaha SXVENOM – HIGHLIGHTS
- This new 397cc high-tech engine boasts all the features you’d expect from a top-of-the-line snowmobile, including computerized ignition system (ECM), three-stage power boost valve in the exhaust port, battery-free fuel injection, electronic oil injection and electric starter, to name a few. The tuned exhaust pipe, enhanced by a temperature sensor in the exhaust pipe and a detonation sensor, ensures reliable performance. The lightweight crankshaft balance flywheel dampens unpleasant vibrations to deliver a wide range of power smoothly.
- Yamaha minimized the number of parts in the design of the new alloy chassis to save weight without compromising durability or functionality.
- At a glance, the digital instrument panel shows the rider the speed, engine speed, fuel level, hours of operation and distance traveled. Warning lights also alert to low oil or abnormal engine temperatures.
- The sensor monitors cylinder vibration and communicates to the ECM if there is combustion accompanied by knocking caused by improper fuel metering or poor operating conditions. In such cases, the ECM adjusts the ignition timing to prevent engine damage.
- Torsion springs team up with double-walled amortos to give the rear suspension a comfortable 10.7 inches of travel.
- The 121-inch lightweight track is slightly narrower (14 inches) than its cousins, and also features shorter (1-inch) lugs for agility and balanced handling, which helps the snowmobile feel very light.
PERFORMANCE
- The overdrive valve adjusts the exhaust port opening based on engine speed to maximize peak torque and optimize fuel efficiency throughout the powerband.
- The CVTech Trailbloc drive pulley joins the CVTech Invance driven pulley to ensure reliable clutch operation at low temperatures. The small diameter bearing allows the belt to sit lower in the primary drive pulley, resulting in a super low first gear ratio. This also creates a wider gear ratio in the secondary pulley, allowing every last drop of juice to be extracted from the compact engine.
- Electronic fuel injection delivers fuel very efficiently to the cylinder, depending on engine speed, maximizing torque and throttle response. Computer-controlled fuel injection provides reliable cold-weather starts, maximizes range and delivers low exhaust emissions.
- Hayes “Stealth” hydraulic brake master cylinder is paired with a composite Stealth lever and lightweight caliper to provide excellent modulation, feel and braking power.
- The compact engine tips the scales at only 22.7 kg (50 lbs), meaning it has plenty of power to spare with its class-leading power-to-weight ratio.
- Thanks to its deck and heat exchangers on the track housing – all made of alloy, the engine keeps its cool, even when things get hot!
2022 Yamaha SXVENOM – MANIABILITY
- Yamaha’s single-keel skis strike a delicate balance between light steering effort and precise handling over a wide range of snow conditions. Special carbide rails further enhance steering responsiveness. An adjustable cushioned wedge combines with the rubber stop to adjust the pressure point on the carbide rail. Overall ski spacing is also adjustable – just move the thick shim on each ski stub to the opposite side.
- The 4.5″ handlebar clamp puts the J-brackets within easy reach, whether the rider is sitting or standing.
- Derived from the streamlined SRV-M front suspension, this new lightweight, ultra-compact design reduces annoying drag from spindles and suspension components in deep snow. Neutral spacing allows for great maneuverability in tight terrain and predictable trail behavior. Lightweight forged aluminum stub axles combine with generously curved upper and lower delta arms to provide a wide caster angle that’s ideal for attacking tight turns and making riding easier.
- Sharp serrations are cut into the lightweight footboards to shed snow and allow the rider to plant his feet firmly and confidently.
COMFORT
- A modern snowmobile with the weight of a 30 year old snowmobile and a fan cooled engine opens up a new era of functionality and fun.
- Restarting the engine and shifting into reverse is as simple as pushing a button. The reverse warning buzzer sounds once you put the car in reverse; the buzzer continues to sound until you push the button again to turn off the ignition and start the car in forward gear. It’s a simple, lightweight and effective way to get you out of a tight spot.
- A standard handlebar and heaters in the throttle are standard.
- The large 44-liter fuel tank, coupled with the fuel-injected engine that sips gas, means you travel far between fill-ups.
- The electric starter combines with the electronic fuel injection to bring the snowmobile to life every time, fast as a flash, in a myriad of conditions.
- The racing-inspired 10 cm (4″) windshield is just high enough to deflect snow away from the console.
- The seat allows plenty of freedom of movement to deftly negotiate hairpin turns, frolic over bumps and still enjoy cushioned comfort on long rides.
