Last ISOC Snocross race weekend: Megan Brodeur aims for the title, Francis Pelletier aims for 2nd place.
Eagle River Complex on March 19 and 20. To avoid travel during Covid, the series finale will again be held at this legendary complex on March 26 and 27.
Quebecers fought hard in this second last weekend, and some of them can claim coveted and rare titles in this period where the SCMX of Quebec had to forfeit the organization of the provincial snocross championship.
Megan Brodeur # 31 Ski-Doo Anderson Racing / Pro Women :
On March 19 and 20, the Coaticook driver was able to get valuable points, despite a mechanical problem and difficult starts. On Friday, the start was difficult, but Megan didn’t lose focus and valiantly regained all the positions on a rough track. It wasn’t enough to take the lead and she finished in second place. The scenario was repeated on Saturday. The #31 Ski-Doo had trouble getting going. Then it all came together and Megan started the chase to catch her most serious opponent, Malene Andersen. Despite some fast laps she had to settle for second place again.
She said, “It was a pretty tough weekend for me. I had some bad luck, but I did my best to get through it. I finally felt more like myself in my final on Saturday night. I hope it continues like this.
The point of the championship before the last double event:
Rare fact: The two drivers are ex-aequo. They both have 581 points. The first place is still to be conquered for Megane. The suspense will be intense. The official Ski-Doo driver will have to improve her starts to win her fourth Isoc title. She is capable of doing it, and she proved once again that she is very fast in the laps.
Francis Pelletier, # 220 Ski-Doo Warnert Racing / Pro :
Francis Pelletier has shown that he belongs in the pros with his good results throughout the season. He proved his consistency again on the second last weekend of racing. On Friday he admitted some mistakes during the final. The level is very high and it plays hard on the track. He still finished on the third step of the podium. On Sunday he led a daring race with many twists and turns. His efforts paid off with a nice second place.
The point of the championship before the last double event:
Francis Pelletier is in second place in the provisional championship. He cannot catch the current leader, Elias Ishoel, who has an 81-point lead. But Francis Pelletier will have to watch out for the third driver, Oskar Norum, who is only 16 points behind. Even the current fourth place finisher, Lincoln Lemieux, could be in the mix. Francis needs a clean weekend!
Emeric Legendre Perron #144 Ski-Doo Thene Motorsports /Sport :
The Ste-Julie driver had a great weekend and took two second place finishes. He is the revelation of this year, and all hopes are allowed for the young driver.
The point of the championship before the last double event:
Emeric is in fourth place of the provisional, but the scores are very close. The last race will be decisive. If he keeps his good consistency, the Quebecer could move up to the second position. He only needs three points with the third and sixteen with the second.
Nathan Mailloux #144 /Sport :
The Ste-Sophie driver took advantage of the four races in one week at Eagle River to get back to racing. The level is very high, with trained drivers and the return is gradual. Nathan started very young, Ski-Doo is part of his life and his DNA. He is very happy to be in the temple of snocross racing at the world level, and he will be there this weekend for the last two races of the season.
Théo Poirier # 728 Arctic-Cat Woodies Racing / Pro-Lite :
The second last weekend of racing was a tough one for the Sayabec native.
On Friday Theo fought well and was able to get a top 10 finish. On Saturday he had a crash and was removed from the track by the medical team. After checking he got up with bruises and bumps. He has a week to get back into shape and defend his position in the standings. He is 8th in the provisional rankings, which is already respectable, and he would have the possibility to gain one or two places.
Samuel Blouin #878 / Pro-Lite :
It was the first weekend of racing for the driver from Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, proudly coached by Tim Tremblay. It was not easy because the track was very rough. As he says himself: I am really happy with the results: Friday 2-4-4 and Saturday 2-3, I finished 8th at the end of the weekend.
He will naturally be present for the last two races.
Jordan Lebel # 511 Ski-Doo Boss Racing / Pro-Lite :
No final for Jordan Lebel, the young driver who was back to winning races after breaking several vertebrae in January. He withdrew after injuries in practice on March 15. But we will certainly hear from him, as he has already won races in Pro-Lite, the antechamber of the Pros, at 16 years old.
Warm temperatures and rain are in the forecast for March 26 and 27 at the World Championship Complex in Eagle River. This could be a great recipe for unpredictable competition in the final of the Amsoil Snocross Championship by Isoc.
