We have been waiting for it with impatience and it has finally arrived! Yes, this beautiful snow that will allow us to ride the trails, discover the beauty of the landscape, cross the mountains, etc. But before undertaking all these beautiful rides, a big question arises: what is the best Amsoil oil for my snowmobile? Amsoil Interceptor or Dominator?

We are often asked, “Should I use Amsoil Interceptor synthetic two-stroke engine oil or Amsoil Dominator racing oil for my snowmobile?

First of all, what type of snowmobile do you drive? In order to advise you, we need to know a little more about it. We have to admit that we are light years ahead of the first snowmobiles. The new high-performance ones – like the Ski-Doo E-TEC or Arctic Cat C-TEC2 – are designed differently. As government standards become more stringent regarding the environment, it is now mandatory to reduce emissions from two-stroke engines.

Snowmobile manufacturers have adapted to this new reality and now design engines that require much less oil. In addition, on many new snowmobiles, the on-board computer can adjust the fuel/oil ratio on demand depending on the riding conditions. This allows snowmobile manufacturers to tune engines to produce fewer emissions.

In a promotional video, Arctic Cat claims that its C-TEC2 engine can, depending on conditions, operate at a ratio as high as 65:1.

Less oil means more heat and potential wear.

Burning less oil is a plus for the environment, but for the engine, the same cannot be said, because it creates overheating. And as everyone knows, high heat is very damaging to the engine, because it loses its efficiency and this prevents you from driving as fast. In addition, piston expansion and premature engine wear can occur. We can conclude that if you ride a high performance snowmobile, you will tend to use less oil… Do you think you have the right oil to avoid damaging your $12,000 or more snowmobile?

Interceptor or Dominator – Have you modified your engine?

Most riders say that the power and performance of their snowmobile provides enough adrenaline to satisfy them. However, there are others who want more! For extra excitement, carburetors, clutches, mufflers and other modifications can increase the power of your snowmobile!

However, there is one important thing to keep in mind. Power and speed increase heat and stress on the engine. Again, the oil carries the weight of your needs.

What do you do with your snowmobile?

We’ve all crashed hard at one time or another to cross a lake or a large deserted track. But sanctioned racing is very different. If you’re driving a racing or competitive snowmobile, you’re putting a lot more pressure on the engine and asking the oil to handle some pretty extreme conditions. A challenge that most snowmobilers never ask of their machines!

In short, if you’re a hard-core snowmobiler with a high-performance snowmobile, we recommend using Amsoil Interceptor synthetic two-stroke engine oil.

-Exceptional engine protection

-Better engine and exhaust valve cleanliness

-Better cold flow

When comparing, there is no doubt that Interceptor is our best snowmobile oil. It meets all the criteria of a good oil. And as an added bonus, of all the brands, it’s a great value.

If you have a racing or modified snowmobile, use Amsoil Dominator synthetic two-stroke engine oil specifically designed for racing.

-Especially designed for runners

-Additional protection for modified snowmobiles

-Maximized power

Dominator has been formulated with heavier base oils to protect bearings, pistons and other components specific to high performance snowmobiles.  Because of the emphasis on wear protection, Dominator does not protect against power valve sticking like Interceptor.

I’m going to give you another option: Amsoil Injector synthetic two-stroke engine oil. It’s perfect for occasional snowmobilers and those looking for a versatile oil that can be used year-round for both their snowmobile and their outboard motor.

Whatever oil you choose for your snowmobile, we wish you a wonderful winter of snow and safety!
