Mountain snowmobiling is evolving at an incredible rate, propelled by a cycle of increasingly versatile vehicles, riders pushing them to their limits, and ever-advancing technologies and innovations. BRP has been leading this “defying the impossible” cycle in the mountain snowmobile industry since its very first Ski-Doo Summit model in 1994.

The latest innovations in Ski-Doo mountain snowmobiles include the highly flexible tMotion rear suspension and FlexEdge tracks, with a 3-inch profile and a length of 442 cm (174 inches). Combined with industry-leading platforms and engines, these technological advances make Ski-Doo Summit snowmobiles the number one selling mountain snowmobile in North America.

For 2017, BRP is pushing the boundaries of mountain snowmobiling even further with the arrival of the new 800cc Summit X and Summit SP snowmobiles, both created from the 4th generation REV platform and powered by a new Rotax 850 E-TEC engine, two technologies designed in tandem to allow snowmobilers to tackle even the most technical terrain with less effort.

As with the first REV platform, the incredible handling and predictability of the chassis dynamics is made possible by a radical centralization of mass (especially from side to side) and the incredible ease with which the rider can influence the handling of the snowmobile. In the case of the 4th generation REV platform, the drivetrain has been designed very narrow and perfectly centered in the chassis. There is much more room for the rider to move and handle the vehicle, and the snowmobile is fully equipped with new features specifically designed for deep snow, such as panel shape, tunnel design and track technology. Not to mention the weight reduction of 11.3 kg (25 lbs).

The 2nd generation E-TEC technology in the new 850 engine provides 155 hp, which is 10 hp more, but more importantly, it responds 30% faster for greater control in deep snow and allows you to run 40% longer on one liter of oil.

This new combination is available on the Summit X (spring exclusive) and Summit SP models, with either a 391 cm (154″) or 420 cm (165″) track and a 6.3 cm (2.5″) or 7.6 cm (3.0″) profile.

In addition, BRP presents the most comprehensive line of Summit mountain models ever offered, allowing riders to find the reliable, easy-to-ride Summit snowmobile that exactly matches their riding style, local terrain and snow conditions, intended use and budget.

2017 Ski-Doo Summit SP

OVERVIEW

The design of the all-new 2017 Summit SP is more rider-centric than ever to help all types of snowmobilers perform even the most technical off-trail maneuvers. BRP centralized mass primarily by designing a narrower powerplant and centering it in the frame. The effort required to tilt the snowmobile is significantly reduced. Plus, there’s more room to move around thanks to the really narrow frame, tank, beveled tunnel and minimalist seat. The flat running boards, improved riding position and new legroom design make it an even better vehicle for the demands of mountain snowmobilers.

The design of the side panels, tunnel and track required special attention to optimize performance in deep snow. Not to mention the new Rotax 850 E-TEC engine. Sure, it provides 10 more hp for 165 hp – but let’s not forget the 2nd generation E-TEC technology and the new pDrive drive pulley that dramatically increase response, allowing snowmobilers to use the throttle to better control their vehicle.

The 2017 Summit SP with 4th generation REV platform and 850 E-TEC G2 engine is available with 391 cm (154 in.) or 420 cm (165 in.) track and 6.3 cm (2.5 in.) or 7.6 cm (3.0 in.) profile, and black and yellow coloring.

2017 Ski-Doo Summit Burton

OVERVIEW

Who needs a helicopter or a lift when you can use a snowmobile? That’s what more and more snowboarders and backcountry skiers are saying. Snowmobiling is a great way to access pristine powder slopes without having to pay for a helicopter or snowmobile.

In collaboration with Burton, the leader in the snowboard industry, Ski-Doo has developed a specially designed and factory-equipped model to transport skiers and riders to hard-to-reach slopes: the Burton Summit. Based on the Summit SP 154, this snowmobile features the LinQ board and ski rack, a longer seat with room for two people, and special coloring designed by Burton.

The best part? It can also be used for mountain snowmobiling.
