Any snowmobiler can describe the sheer freedom of a track and two skis. But 50-50 hybrid enthusiasts know that once you’re in the driver’s seat of the right snowmobile, the freedom is limitless. On the trail, in the woods, on deep snow – or all three in one day, the true hybrid snowmobiler likes to tackle any situation, without having to sacrifice performance or capability.
But the thing about true 50-50 hybrid snowmobilers is that, like fingerprints, every ride is unique. Some days, the ultimate reward is a series of powder turns in a remote field, and sometimes it’s only the high speed of the trail that satisfies.
Above all, it’s about effortless performance in all situations. Instant throttle response and dynamic performance that allows you to dominate trail turns and float through powder are non-negotiable. The suspension must be equally effective, both in absorbing trail bumps and in negotiating obstacles and off-trail jumps.
The Ski-Doo product development team looked at the needs of these snowmobilers to develop the 2020 Backcountry line as the ultimate family of hybrid snowmobiles.
Equipped with Rotax’s most powerful 2-stroke engine to date, the 850 E-TEC, or the class-leading 600R E-TEC, these machines provide instant powder float and ultimate trail acceleration. Hybrid snowmobile enthusiasts demand the effortless handling provided by the REV Gen4 platform. And to satisfy their need for versatility, the Backcountry design includes special features such as an open cockpit for increased rider freedom of movement, cMotion hybrid suspension with high track for easy off-trail riding, and a 370.8 or 391.2 cm (146 or 154 in.) track, available with different profiles.
Other features, such as adjustable ski spacing from 38.4″ to 40.2″, an optional battery-free SHOT button start system, and vibrant colors make it easy for any 50-50 hybrid snowmobile enthusiast to find the perfect vehicle. Not to mention the new all-digital instrument panel with a flatter display angle, another detail that adds a sophisticated look to an already unique vehicle.

OVERVIEW
Fans of the 2020 Ski-Doo Backcountry X-RS refuse to give in because of the terrain. These 50-50 snowmobile enthusiasts not only seek to dominate every trail, they boldly take on the backcountry, always ready to conquer any terrain they encounter on their off-trail adventures.
Deeply steeped in the racing DNA of Ski-Doo’s X-RS models, the 2020 Backcountry X-RS has the perfect attributes that snowmobilers who love to take on the most demanding conditions are looking for. Features like incredibly durable reinforced frames, flat running boards that provide optimal grip in more technical situations, and race-inspired KYB Pro shocks that adjust to the rider’s attitude when tackling the most varied terrain are all standard on the X-RS package.
At the heart of the Backcountry X-RS models is the renowned REV Gen4 platform. Strong and rigid, yet light and agile, the REV Gen4 allows the rider to ride exactly the way they want. The open cockpit design and narrow seat allow the rider to move aggressively on the snowmobile when the situation calls for it. And with the engine centrally located in the frame, the snowmobile responds instantly to the rider’s every command, providing effortless maneuverability both off-road and on the trail.
Equipped with a hybrid version of the RAS 3 front suspension and KYB Pro 36 EA shocks, the Backcountry X-RS pushes the rider more than ever before to confidently go beyond their limits in the most demanding terrain. Up front, the Pilot DS 2 skis with adjustable spacing let you know that the snowmobile is designed for off-trail riding.
In the rear, the decoupled design of the 371 cm (146″) cMotion suspension and the new 391 cm (154″) cMotion allows the rider to easily maneuver the vehicle in deep snow and float on powder. The curved rails provide precise trail riding, much like shorter snowmobiles. Meanwhile, the KYB Pro 40 rear shocks are easily adjustable for a variety of situations and are perfectly capable of absorbing the most difficult landings, such as jumping from one big bump to another.
Powered by the indomitable Rotax 850 E-TEC 2 two-stroke engine with its breathtaking response, the Backcountry X-RS is perfectly designed to conquer any winter terrain on any of the five tracks available: three 371 cm (146″) tracks, the 1.6 Cobra, the 1.6 Ice Cobra and the 2.0 PowderMax, and two 391 cm (154″) tracks, the 2.0 PowderMax and the 2.5 PowderMax.

2020 SKI-DOO BACKCOUNTRY
OVERVIEW
Perfectly designed to allow the rider to steal the show in the heart of winter’s most beautiful vistas, the 2020 Backcountry has outstanding trail handling, with an optimal combination of features chosen to allow the rider to see farther and get off the groomed trails.
Based on the REV Gen4 architecture that has become synonymous with versatility among snowmobilers thanks to its spacious open cockpit, the Backcountry allows the rider to easily influence his vehicle by simply shifting his weight in subtle or exaggerated ways. The result is industry-leading agility on and off the trail, no matter what the conditions.
The 371 cm (146″) rear suspension with 4 cm (1.6″) profile provides exceptional traction for trail riding, and the flotation you need for deep snow slalom. The RAS 3 front suspension features a hybrid-inspired adjustable spread, allowing the rider to move the skis up to 97.5 cm (38.4 in.) closer together for easy slalom leaning, and up to 102.1 cm (40.2 in.) further apart for added stability on the trail.
For 2020, the Backcountry is available with a choice of two-stroke engines, the all-powerful 850 E-TEC and the class-leading 600R E-TEC, both with instant acceleration and the Rotax reputation for high reliability. These two exhilarating power options allow you to blast down the trails at high speeds and fly through the fields with the intensity the rider wants.
