New Technologies Ski-doo 2021. Ski-Doo 2021 snowmobiles are entering the market at full throttle, creating incredible, satisfying and inspiring experiences that will amaze snowmobilers. BRP has a long history of developing technologies that consumers want, bringing state-of-the-art performance, ease of use and value to snowmobilers around the world.

With the perpetual goal of creating ever superior vehicles, BRP’s engineering teams have set out to shatter traditional industry standards with groundbreaking innovations. The world’s first turbocharged two-stroke engine to be designed and built at the factory will allow deep snow enthusiasts to explore the mountains like never before. Trail riders will have a whole new way to enjoy their rides with new suspensions that redefine the standards of comfort, control and ride quality. Plus a host of new features that reinforce Ski-Doo snowmobiles as true leaders in all segments of the industry.

First factory-built turbocharged two-stroke engine reaches new heights well above the competition

Altitude has always been a barrier to power. For decades, some snowmobilers have turned to aftermarket companies to compensate for this power loss with turbochargers and superchargers. In 2021, enthusiasts looking for more power at higher altitudes can simply drop by their Ski-Doo dealer to take advantage of the all-new Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo – the world’s first factory-built turbocharged two-stroke engine.

Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo

Completely engineered and designed in-house for the 850 E-TEC, the new turbocharger gives full access to every one of the 850 E-TEC’s 165 horsepower up to 8,000 ft. (2,438 m), and at higher elevations, it provides a significant 40 horsepower advantage over naturally-aspirated engines, no matter how high up the mountain – allowing Ski-Doo snowmobilers to outrun the competition all the way to the top.

In order to ensure full consumer satisfaction, four key factors guided Rotax engineers in the design of the new 850 E-TEC Turbo engine: dynamic power without lag, durability, light weight, and seamless integration with the easy-to-handle REV Gen4 platform.

Optimizing power at minimum boost was key to maximizing throttle response and service life. The short bypass intake ensures dynamic throttle responses, while the improved exhaust system minimizes backpressure.

The electronically controlled relief valve ensures constant boost pressure and provides thrust as needed to ensure that none of the performance characteristics of the dynamic 850 E-TEC are lost.

The benefits of the Rotax design are instantly apparent as the snowmobiler experiences the smooth performance of the turbo package from idle to high speed, not to mention the high degree of integration with the snowmobile. The compact turbine and compressor design is ideally integrated into the REV Gen4 chassis. Lightweight materials, patented continuous lubrication system, optimized downpipe, centralized engine block layout in the chassis, all designed to maximize the balance of the vehicle.

The new lightweight one-piece hood and unique side panels with strategically placed vents to optimize cooling of critical components provide superior protection with a sleek, stylish look.

New Technologies Ski-doo 2021 Drive belt control system

This system used on deep snow machines with 850 E-TEC or 850 E-TEC Turbo engines alerts snowmobilers in two ways to prevent drive belt problems before they occur. The first mechanism uses sophisticated algorithms to detect heavy duty cycles based on vehicle speed, rpm profile and torque over a period of more than one minute. In the event of a damaging situation, the message “BELT OVERLOAD” appears on the indicator, accompanied by an audible “bib” every 15 seconds – the message disappears when the duty cycle changes. If the situation lasts longer than 10 minutes, the “beep” will occur every 10 seconds until the motor stops

The indicator will beep every 10 seconds until the temperature drops below the threshold (75°C). The driver can also choose to display the belt temperature on the gauge, as with engine temperature, RPM and speed.

Neither mechanism affects engine performance – the system serves to warn the driver of potential problems before they occur.

New Technologies Ski-doo 2021 X-suspension, the ultimate in snowmobiling

Today’s snowmobilers push the limits of their sled’s capabilities again and again, in every way possible, from high-speed mogul rides to long-distance exploration, and they expect to do it with superior comfort and control. The new rMotion X rear suspension, new RAS X front suspension and new Pilot X skis are the snowmobiler’s new allies, no matter what the trails throw at them.

New Technologies Ski-doo 2021 rMotion X

Of course, the rMotion is the undisputed reference in the field of rear suspension for snowmobiles. But the absorption capabilities so appreciated by snowmobilers are taken to the next level with the new rMotion X. Every inch of the suspension has been scrutinized and redesigned to increase capability and comfort, reduce weight, refine geometry, and give riders more options than ever before to perfect their ride. Designing and integrating a suspension of this complexity requires innovative creativity and remarkable commitment – two characteristics that are integral to the BRP culture.

rMotion X

Lighter overall rear suspension weight (2.2 kg / 5 lbs) reduces unsprung mass for an even smoother ride over bumps. Revised geometry and a longer rear shock absorber increase overall travel (2.2 cm / 1 in.), and the longer travel distributes the force of bump absorption, providing an even wider comfort zone to allow for adjustment to the driver’s exact preference. Details matter. rMotion suspensions, like the new X version, use the best shock absorbers of ideal length for each track length, rather than one shock absorber for all tracks, to ensure the best absorption performance.

The front arm of the rMotion X rear suspension bridges the gap between the front and rear portions of the vehicle, creating a perfect harmony with the chassis and snowmobile dynamics. By lengthening the front arm, engineers have reduced the angle at which forces are transferred to the chassis to create an ideal weight transfer from front to rear and vice versa. As a result, the front end of the RAS X and Pilot X skis bite at the perfect moment in every turn to allow the rider to aggressively attack every trajectory.

An additional degree of adjustment has been added to the front arm with an encentric cam on the rail post. The driver can choose the precise setting for aggressive or fun riding by choosing the angle opening (1 degree difference) to change the effect of weight transfers.

New Technologies Ski-doo 2021 Front suspension RAS X

Developed in conjunction with the rMotion X to optimize chassis dynamics, the RAS X front suspension dramatically increases front-end capabilities. With a new geometry that provides 43 inches (109.2 cm) of travel and nearly 1/2 inch (10 mm) of additional travel, the snowmobiler gets incredible steering stability on the most demanding terrain that allows for the tightest of turns with surgical precision.

The new Pilot X and TX skis

Together, the rMotion X, RAS X and Pilot X skis have been specially optimized for the REV Gen4 platform to dominate like kings and masters, on every trail, in every condition. High-performance riders can go harder knowing that their vehicle allows for perfect weight transfers to make the skis bite at exactly the right time in every turn. And when it’s time to accelerate out of the turn, the optimized transfer moves aft to take over and allow for high-speed exit from the turn, creating the ultimate in between-corner acceleration.
