Table des matières

Here’s a snowmobile that needs no introduction, but gets better with each passing season. The Ski-Doo MXZ snowmobile range is very popular with snowmobilers, and it’s easy to see why when you ride it. The Ski-Doo MXZ Adrenaline Blizzard 2025 charmed us once again during our visit to Montana

This trail-going machine boasts an impressive list of standard equipment. A choice of 2 responsive engines and a set of top-of-the-range shocks. And best of all, it comes with the new RAS RX front suspension to push the limits.

Style

First of all, it’s the relatively sober styling that wins us over with its dark gray coat. A nice backdrop for the yellow accents and 3 lines of retro colors. I must confess to having a soft spot for snowmobiles that make use of a manufacturer’s rich history, and this is the case with the Blizzard set. There are a few touches that remind us of the Valcourt manufacturer’s gleaming snowmobiles of the 70s and 80s.

We’re treated to the REV Gen5 platform with all its familiar benefits. In particular, its rigidity, studied ergonomics and excellent finish quality. It comes relatively bare, with a low windshield and transparent handguards. After that, you can equip it according to your needs with the manufacturer’s long list of accessories. Mind you, your wallet could suffer if you add too much…

2 Engine Options on the Menu

To bring the Ski-Doo MXZ Adrenaline Blizzard 2025 to life, we have a choice of two 2-stroke engines. Our test snowmobile is powered by the ever-popular 165-hp 850 E-TEC engine. Its reputation for performance is well established. Incidentally, it’s always important to emphasize its instant response to every throttle. This is the key to its success, and the reason why so many performance enthusiasts have been seduced by it. You can also opt for the 600R E-TEC engine, which offers an interesting 125 hp.

New RAS RX Front Suspension

Big news this year: Ski-Doo introduces a brand-new front suspension. It’s called the RAS RX, and it promises sharper steering and superior trail performance. We’ll talk more about this in our driving impressions…

To sum up the modifications, the engineers have succeeded in reducing cornering roll by 20%. The new Pilot RS skis, with their longer, 2-level keels, have also been combined. In short, the ride promises to be more aggressive.

rMotion X Rear Suspension

At the rear, we find the rMotion X, which has been shining for many seasons now. It’s still as efficient as ever, and clears bumps with ease. The MXZ comes in 2 track lengths, depending on the type of trail you’re riding. Either the 129″ Ice Ripper XT track or the 137″ track with 1.5″ studs for great performance.

KYB Shock Absorbers

For enhanced performance, the Blizzard package comes with the excellent KYB Pro 36 shock absorbers. These shocks are easily adjustable, with spring preload and pawls in just a few positions. This means we can effectively modulate suspension response to suit our size and the conditions we’re about to face.

Driving Impressions

As soon as you pick up the handlebars, you feel ready to hit the trails. The tapered seat and sporty riding position suggest that the experience is going to be fast-paced. The engine roars to life, and we’re off to devour hundreds of kilometers at top speed. Although this snowmobile is geared to performance, comfort is very much in evidence. So don’t worry if you’re a long-distance snowmobiler.

The 850 E-TEC engine shines with its generous cavalry. The 5th-generation Rev platform makes efficient use of its chassis rigidity. Cornering is swift and exhilarating. After just a few minutes, the new RAS RX suspension delivers excellent roadholding. Much less ski lift than the previous version. The skis are firmly riveted to the trails, but not completely so. It’s well known that Ski-Doo still likes some light steering for a smooth ride. I’d say it’s a perfect balance, and the effort required to steer it is optimal.

The KYB Pro 36 shock absorbers do all they can to soak up the bumps and let you float along in total comfort. And when you want to get over some very bumpy sections… a few quick adjustments are all it takes to turn it into a real “bump-eating” beast.

Strengths

  • Choice of 2 excellent, proven engines: the 850 E-TEC or the 600R E-TEC.
  • New RAS RX front suspension that limits ski lift just enough.
  • KYB 36 Pro suspension standard with Blizzard package.

Areas for Improvement

  • A more upright position would be preferable for aggressive riding and travel. Especially for larger-than-average riders, the ergonomics seem too compact.
  • We’d like the background color to be brighter than a simple dark gray. But that’s a matter of taste…

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Ski-Doo MXZ Adrenaline Blizzard 2025 offers a fine performance package with the new RAS RX suspension and its high-caliber shocks. What’s more, we get a touch of nostalgia with the 3 retro color schemes, reminiscent of the 70s and 80s. If you’re looking for a trail sled with character, this could well be your next ride!
