The new 2020 Ski-Doo Summit 850 E-TEC Turbo completely redefines the fun of high altitude riding and takes the industry to new heights. Snowmobilers will have a machine with more standard power than ever before with the Summit 850 E-TEC Turbo. They’ll also enjoy unprecedented ease of operation and peace of mind with Ski-Doo’s FIRST-ever 2-stroke turbo engine.

High altitude becomes more accessible and more fun for deep snow enthusiasts, who now have access to the same kind of power as low altitude snowmobilers, without turbo lag and with the same ultra-dynamic response that Rotax 850 E-TEC engines are known for. With this first-ever factory-built turbocharged two-stroke, snowmobilers get balanced handling, lighter weight and consistent performance. Peace of mind is also part of the package with superior factory integration, precision calibration at all altitudes and in all conditions, and the reassuring coverage of a manufacturer’s warranty.

Riders will get the most out of each of the 165 horsepower of the renowned two-stroke engine up to 8,000 feet. And they’ll have a 40-horsepower advantage over other 850 engines when they want to venture higher to discover new playgrounds.

For starters, this new 2020 Ski-Doo model features the REV Gen4 platform, which is so maneuverable that it only takes a glance to adjust the path to the rider’s wishes. No other deep snow sled captures the relationship between rider, sled and terrain as well as the Summit.

More than just a new engine, it’s a lightweight, turbocharged package designed entirely by Rotax and Ski-Doo. In addition to getting the full power of the engine at a lower weight than aftermarket turbo packages, the optimized chassis configuration ensures the snowmobile is transversely balanced for easy riding. The benefits of the Ski-Doo/Rotax design are immediately apparent as the rider experiences the smooth performance of the turbo package from idle to high speed, not to mention the high degree of integration with the snowmobile. The compact design of the turbine and compressor is ideally integrated into the REV Gen4 frame. The lightweight material combines with the patented continuous lubrication system and optimized downpipe, positioned to ensure the entire power pack remains centered and balanced in the frame.

The new ultra-lightweight one-piece hood and unique side panel with strategically placed vents to optimize cooling of critical components provide superior protection with a sleek, stylish look.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SET

PLATFORM
REV Gen4 Platform: The open design of the REV Gen4 off-road platform gives snowmobilers the freedom to ride in their own style, to attack the terrain in their own way and not be limited by the demands of the snowmobile. Designed to give mountain snowmobiles supreme agility and response, the centralized weight design allows for a vehicle that responds perfectly to the rider’s commands, making it easy to maneuver on the most technical terrain.

ROTAX ENGINE

NEW – Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo Engine: The industry’s first factory-built turbocharged two-stroke engine. The Rotax designed and engineered turbocharger allows the industry’s most powerful 850 twin-cylinder engine to develop 165 horsepower up to 8,000 feet, and maintain a remarkable 40 horsepower more consistent than standard atmospheric 850s at higher altitudes. Its sophisticated design is fully integrated with the REV Gen4 platform to ensure ideal balance and minimal weight. This factory-built turbocharged two-stroke boasts impressive power, instant, lag-free response and superior reliability – an engine that only the industry leader could design and bring to market.

SUSPENSION
tMotion Rear Suspension: The tMotion is extremely agile and responds instantly to the rider’s commands. A simple shift of weight from the rider is all it takes to steer the snowmobile in the right direction. A ball-jointed rear arm and split front arm allow the suspension to flex laterally to help lean the snowmobile into the mountainside or slalom. The progressive damping ratio increases comfort and the ability to negotiate jumps on trails that lead to powder. The optional adjustable limiter strap allows the rider to easily and quickly choose the riding dynamics.

HPG Plus Rear Shock Absorbers: High quality, lightweight, rebuildable KYB shocks

RAS 3 Front Suspension: Precise, predictable handling with superior absorption over bumps and in the toughest conditions, with industry-leading unequal-length A-arm front suspension.

HPG Plus front shock absorbers: High-quality, lightweight KYB shock absorbers with Kashima coating on the front.

Light springs: Front and rear shock absorbers

KEY FEATURES

Short Tunnel: Shorter tunnel without snow guards for optimal maneuverability in deep snow. Standard rear fender with LinQ attachment points.

SHOT starting technology: One-button starts and almost no additional weight. The first start is done manually, using the recoil starter, and the motor then charges the supercapacitor. Subsequent starts, using the SHOT button on the handlebar, use the stored energy and magneto to turn the crankshaft, and E-TEC starts the engine. This system eliminates nearly 9 kg (20 lbs) compared to a conventional electric starter.

Narrow, adjustable ski gap: Standard 91 cm (35.7 in.) gap for easy tilting of the snowmobile. Stable turns on trails thanks to a lower center of gravity. Gauge can be easily adjusted up to 95 cm (37.4 in.).

Lightweight ski leg: Lightweight alloy leg with redesigned geometry and ski stop to reduce ski resistance and improve predictability on technical mountainsides.

Pilot DS 3 Skis: Skis specifically designed for longer tracks with a higher profile, to provide high precision control with stable sidecut behavior. Pilot DS 3 skis are based on the popular Pilot DS 2 skis, but with a 12mm deeper keel and exclusive removable tips to widen the ski tip: use in deep powder for better floatation, and remove on the crust to prevent the tip from lifting and braking the snowmobile.

Chenille: 420 x 41 x 7.6 cm (165 x 16 x 3,0 po)

PowderMax Lightweight Track: Tackle slopes with skill thanks to a 3.5″ pitch that reduces weight, but also increases performance by retaining more snow between the studs to improve traction and float the snowmobile on the snow. Combined with this reduced pitch, the sturdy, lighter stud design reduces weight by 4.5 kg (10 lbs) on the 391 cm and 419 cm (154″ and 165″) tracks with a 6.3 cm (2.5″) profile. This exclusive 16″ wide track increases flotation and traction without compromising maneuverability.

Snow Scrapers: Rail-mounted scrapers increase ice and snow spray for improved cooling capacity in icy conditions or when snow is very compact. Designed to operate in reverse.

Tunnel Design: The beveled shape allows for a narrower tank and seat width for easier driver movement. The open rear flap design eliminates friction in deep snow. The heat exchanger is integrated into the tunnel using a friction stir welding process that improves heat transfer, increases strength and reduces weight.

pDrive Pulley: Completely redesigned clutch with fast, frictionless dual rollers to transfer engine torque instead of traditional knobs. The large needle bearing rollers, wide seating centrifugal mass and dual shaft design provide a smoother ride and longer life. Very light and maintenance-free, it provides extremely fast speed changes and remarkably consistent rpm. The fixed flange is finned to circulate more air – combined with the new belt guard provides better airflow and cooling.

Drive Belt: 100% PBO design that improves durability in deep snow.

NEW – Drive Belt Monitoring System: Alerts the operator to belt problems in two ways before failure: duty cycle and temperature. Allows the snowmobiler to take action to prevent belt failure. Neither scenario affects engine performance – the system alerts the operator to potential problems before they occur.

NEW – QRS Vent Plus Drive Pulley: Fixed and movable finned pulleys maximize HVAC airflow to reduce operating temperature and ensure consistent performance.

Brembo Disc Brake: Hydraulic brake created by the world leader in the industry, featuring exclusive race-style X-brake pads for powerful, long-lasting stopping power. Stainless steel braided brake line.

Ergo-Step Side Panels: More comfort thanks to the ergonomic shape of the rear section of the panels that provides support for the driver’s legs in downhill situations. The narrow profile and shape of the underside reduce the contact of the panels with the snow when driving on a mountainside. The shape of the bottom panel is designed to increase flotation in deep snow and on mountainsides.

Adjustable limiter belt: To quickly and easily change the limiter belt setting to suit the terrain and conditions, without having to lie down under the snowmobile.

Profiled Step II: Extruded mesh style aluminum design with 60% larger openings for exceptional snow evacuation and three times the grip. Horizontal foot position provides comfort and control, while reducing weight by 1 lb (454 g).

Open toes: Allow the driver to pivot the outside foot naturally in tight turns. Accessories are available to customize the foot hold to suit your driving style.

Compact and lightweight seat: Compact, low profile and lightweight. Specially sculpted for easy side-to-side driver movement. Weather resistant to stay dry and light, year after year.

Compact digital gauge: Its large-digit display presents all essential data in a concise manner, perfectly positioned for a standing driver to see.

Lightweight Mountain Handlebar Controls: Even more compact so as not to interfere with the driver’s movements. Heated thumb switches and heated grips on the console. Even better protected RER reverse control.

Reduced diameter handlebars and grips: Reduced diameter handlebar ends improve operator comfort.

NEW – One-piece hood: One-piece polypropylene construction reduces weight by 2.7 kg (6 lbs). Optimized for heat management and noise reduction.

Low Mountain Grip: A lower center grip does not interfere with driving and allows a clear view of the indicator.

4.7″ (120 mm) elevation block

Flexible hand guards: Semi-rigid design for better hand protection. Flexible enough not to break when tilting the snowmobile or slaloming through trees.

Rotax Electronic Reverse (RER): A system that weighs almost nothing as a simple button reverses the direction of the engine.

DESS RF Key: Standard anti-theft protection with a radio frequency microchip embedded in the key. Its ball-and-socket design ensures a solid connection in all conditions.

Accessory Ready: The vehicle has been factory prepared for easy installation of over 200 Ski-Doo accessories for the REV Gen4 platform: LinQ system, skid plates, vented side panel kit, LED auxiliary light, GPS receiver, 1+1 seat, windshield choices, and more.
